THIS INDUSTRY

A New Standard for Financial Services

The financial sector is undergoing a fundamental shift in how it manages cyber risk and operational resilience. With increasing digitalisation, cloud adoption, outsourcing of ICT services, and interconnected financial ecosystems, organisations are more exposed than ever to cyber threats, system failures, and third-party disruptions. Incidents no longer only affect internal systems — they can impact entire markets, customers, and critical financial infrastructure.

The EU Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) establishes a unified regulatory framework to ensure that financial entities can withstand, respond to, and recover from ICT-related disruptions. DORA places clear requirements on ICT risk management, incident reporting, resilience testing, governance, and third-party risk oversight. As a result, digital operational resilience has become a board-level priority and a regulatory obligation across banks, insurance companies, investment firms, payment providers, and critical ICT service providers.

This evolving landscape creates strong demand for professionals who understand both regulatory expectations and practical implementation. Expertise in DORA and digital operational resilience is rapidly becoming a strategic competence within the financial services industry.
